IAPMO R&T, North America’s premier plumbing and mechanical product certification agency, has expanded the scope of certifications to the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC®) to include cooking appliances as well as the traditional heating, ventilation and air conditioning products. This certification complies with nationally recognized procedures outlined by its recent accreditation scope extension by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). This certification formally establishes IAPMO R&T as a better, more efficient option for manufacturers seeking mechanical certification of their ranges, ovens and kitchen ventilation products.
“We are fully capable of providing manufacturers with the certification documents they need, with speed to market that will leave competitors far behind — all with the highest level of credibility amongst the third party certification bodies,” said Shahin Moinian, senior director of IAPMO R&T. “We can do both the product testing and certification under the same roof, saving manufacturers time and money as they hurry their products to market.”
IAPMO R&T is uniquely qualified to provide certification for cooking appliances, furnaces and other products covered by the mechanical codes to UL, CSA and other standards, as well as the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) and International Mechanical Code (IMC). Manufacturers armed with an IAPMO R&T mechanical listing have every confidence their products will reach the market in any desired jurisdiction.
Since 1936, IAPMO has proven the integrity of building products to the gatekeepers of every community — the building and plumbing inspectors. When presented with a UMC Mark of Conformity, this tough audience has no question that the mechanical product bearing it meets the required standards and the code. Day in and day out, jurisdictions across the country recognize the IAPMO Marks of Conformity among the most trusted marks in the industry. IAPMO R&T is an approved agency in compliance with Section 301.1.1 of the UMC and is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as well as the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) under ISO/IEC Guide 65 and CAN-P 3, respectively.
