IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service Grants ER-0291 to Fi-Foil Company, Inc.

Ontario, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2013) — IAPMO’s Uniform Evaluation Service (UES) is pleased to announce that Florida-based Fi-Foil Company, Inc. has been granted UES Evaluation Report ER-0291 to reference the 2012/2009/2006 International Building Code®, 2012/2009 International Residential Code®, 2012 International Energy Conservation Code®, 2010/2007 Florida Building Code®, 2010/2007 Florida Residential Code®, and the 2010/2007 Florida Energy Conservation Code®.

ER-0291 is the result of extensive engineering review and compiles the supporting documentation showing that Fi-Foil’s AA-2 Vapor Shield™, M- Shield™, Silver Shield Radiant Barrier™, FSK Shield™, and RBI Shield insulations satisfy the latest code and criteria requirements. This allows for the specification of these Fi-Foil Company products by architects, contractors, specifiers and designers, and approval of these installations by code officials. It also provides a concise summary of the product’s attributes and documentation of code compliance.

Products recognized under UES have successfully undergone evaluation based on applicable requirements within the International family of codes, as well as codes published by other entities. UES staff examined Fi-Foil’s AA-2 Vapor Shield™, M-Shield™, Silver Shield Radiant Barrier™, FSK Shield™, and RBI Shield product information, test reports, calculations, quality control methods and other factors to ensure the product was code compliant.

“Fi-Foil Company, Inc, is extremely pleased with ER-0291 on our AA-2 Vapor Shield™, M- Shield™, Silver Shield Radiant Barrier™, FSK Shield™, and RBI Shield products,” said Bill Lippy, president. “Updating a ‘legacy report’ to the latest codes presented challenges. The UES staff worked with us every step of the way. Using UES provided us this opportunity at a reasonable cost both financially and in terms of overall time to market. They worked closely with our staff throughout the process and we are very pleased with the results.”

The UES program is built upon IAPMO’s more than 70 years of experience in evaluating products for code compliance. Accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the program operates under ISO/IEC Guide 65, “General Requirements for Bodies Operating Product Certification Systems.”

“Fi-Foil Company, Inc. can now reference its ER-0291 for AA-2 Vapor Shield™, M- Shield™, Silver Shield Radiant Barrier™, FSK Shield™, and RBI Shield to ensure that code officials quickly have the information required for their decision on approval,” said UES Director Richard Beck, PE, CBO, MCP. “Our program also stands out because of stellar customer service and the utilization of in-house, staff along with the technical expertise of contracted professional engineering firms, who are leaders in each area of recognition.”

IAPMO’s UES offers a full range of recognition opportunities, including for the applicable national model codes, as well as Florida, California and various other states. The UES program lowers the cost to manufacturers and increases the value to code officials by combining all of these recognitions into one concise report prepared by a nationally recognized product certification body.
