New Technology Changes Reviewed at National Standard Plumbing Code Public Hearing
At a National Standard Plumbing Code Committee hearing March 9, the committee considered 152 proposed changes for revision in the 2018 code. While many of the proposed changes were clarifications of intent, several other changes were recommended including new technology.
Polypropylene pipe had previously been listed in the code but a series of proposals was approved to include the specific resins PP-R and PP-RCT for use in plumbing systems. This material has been added as an engineered system which allows systems to be designed, specified, and installed without request of a material variance.
At the end of the day, public input was invaluable in the process of forming changes to the code.
The following items were accepted in some form or tabled at the NSPC Public Hearing. Items not listed were either withdrawn prior to the Public Hearing or were defeated by committee vote.
