The time period to submit comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regarding the WaterSense® Notice of Specification Review has closed. Public comments EPA received on the notice have been posted to the WaterSense Product Specification Review web page.
The Notice of Specification Review was released to inform the public that EPA is evaluating its WaterSense specifications for tank-type toilets, lavatory faucets and faucet accessories, showerheads, flushing urinals, and weather-based irrigation controllers, to determine if there is a need for revising any of those specifications. Materials related to the process—including the Notice of Specification Review and presentations, recordings, and written summaries for public meetings held by EPA in support of this effort—are also available.

EPA intends to announce which specifications it has decided to revise later this year. Any major specification revisions will follow the WaterSense specification development process, during which stakeholders will have additional opportunity to provide feedback on proposed changes to WaterSense labeling criteria.
