The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is pleased to announce once again that IAPMO code instructors will teach all of the plumbing and mechanical courses at the 12th annual EduCode International conference, Feb. 23-27, 2009, in Las Vegas.

The annual education and training event, which takes place at The Orleans Hotel and Casino, will feature IAPMO instructors Roscoe King, Tim Collings and Mike Mitchell, as well as IAPMO’s special guest instructor Tom Meyer, executive director of the Green Mechanical Council.

Highly experienced industry professionals, recognized in their fields of expertise, teach classes at EduCode in 20 specific tracks, such as Code Enforcement, Electrical, International Fire Code, Plumbing and Mechanical, and the Green Environment.

King is the hearing examiner for the City of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, as well as a consultant to the superintendent of building for Los Angeles County Building and Safety. He is also a member of the Board of Plumbing Examiners for Los Angeles County. As a licensed California contractor and licensed journeyman plumber in the County and City of Los Angeles, King brings to his students extensive practical application knowledge based on actual job site conditions.

Collings, senior inspector for Salt Lake City Corporation, will lead four sessions: UPC Water & Fuel Gas Pipe, Sizing & Installation (entry-level); Combustion Air and Venting of Gas Burning Appliances (entry-level); Grease Interceptors, UPC Chapter 10 (intermediate-level); and Effective Use of the Drain, Waste, and Vent Provisions of the UPC and IPC (intermediate-level).

Mitchell has been involved in the plumbing trades since 1973. He is the senior plumbing inspector for the City and County of San Francisco. With half of his career spent on the contracting side of the business, and the balance on code administration, Mitchell brings a wealth of practical knowledge to his classrooms.

Meyer was most recently president of Precision Hydronics Corporation, an international design, consulting and training firm. He is the ASHRAE Liaison to the U.S. Green Building Council and has been a member of the Greenbuild Program Committee for five years. He is a member of the U.S. Senate’s High Performance Building Council, IAPMO’s Technical Committee, the Ecobuild Advisory Committee, and is an advisor to the office of the Architect of the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

“EduCode continues to be a top-notch educational opportunity, thanks in large part, no doubt, to the trust placed by organizers in the knowledge and training capabilities of IAPMO instructors,” said Bob Siemsen, IAPMO president. “Attendees know going in they’re learning from the best in the business.”
